MIGUEL CARVALHO ON THE WAY TO RIO 16

On November 23rd, 2015, Miguel Carvalho achieved a qualifying time for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The athlete, born in Rio Maior, made a time of only 4:00.47 hours in the 50 kms race walking competition.

Miguel Carvalho is now one of the best athletes in the Portuguese race walking. Although he obtained a great time in the 50 Kms distance, he will try to reach the qualification towards Rio in the 20 kms distance.

The Desmor – Rio Maior Sports Centre is the prime venue for all his preparation under the guidance of the coach Jorge Miguel, the six times Olympic coach with the best Portuguese race walkers in the past 30 years.
