MINISTER OF SPORTS FROM ALGERIA VISITED OUR SPORTS CENTRE
On June 20th the Sports Minister of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, Mohammed Tahmi, was in Rio Maior, where he visited and met all the Sports Centre.
In the morning the Minister was received by the mayor Isaura Morais in the City Hall and after the welcoming ceremony the official authorities of both countries visited the University of Sports and the Rio Maior Sports Centre.
The Minister of Algeria visited Rio Maior in order to know more about the best practices in management and maintenance of sports equipment. He had the opportunity to contact with the best examples to improve sports in his country and saw an excellent Sports Centre for future training camps to the Algeria athletes. This visit aims to develop a quickly and effective collaboration plan in sports for both countries.
In Rio Maior the Minister has been accompanied by the Portugal Secretary for Sport and Youth, Emidio Guerreiro and by the President of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth Augusto Baganha, who presented "Rio Maior as a sports center of excellence, being largely demanded by athletes, teams and national and international selections. "
This initiative came after an invitation of the Portuguese Government for an official visit to our country, between 19 and 22 June. Stems from a collaboration that exists between Portugal and Algeria in various aspects of sport, such as management, the preparation of athletes, training in high-yield and issues related to anti-doping control.
