'RIO MAIOR HAS ALL REQUIREMENTS TO A HIGH PERFORMANCE ATHLETE'

The Brazilian triple jump champion Jadel Gregorio and his coach Antonio Carlos Gomes, consultant to the Brazilian Olympic Committee, were in the beginning of February in Rio Maior. Jadel Gregório is the current South American men´s record holder and one of the biggest rivals to the Portuguese Nelson Évora.

This was the first time Jadel and his coach were at the Rio Maior Sports Centre. In an interview to our website at the end of the training camp, the athlete’s opinion about his stay in Rio Maior was very positive, considering it  "useful, not knowing how to thank all the support we had here from all the staff, to the management, physiotherapy, and the medical and recovery department, which is excellent too. We hope to come back soon. I recommend it to the athletes who want to get out of their training routine in their cities and countries, to have a more competitive training. "

António Carlos Gomes, an experienced technician who follows exclusively Jadel’s rehabilitation and training made also some statements to our website "The Rio Maior Sports Centre has very good assessment. It is well structured, because it offers a very good support, attending to all the needs of a high performance athlete. We will be back to continue the preparation of Jadel here in the centre."

Jadel Gregorio’s highlight were the 17,90 meters- the south american and brazilian record achieved in the Athletics Grand Prix of Brazil, in 2007.

In 2004, Jadel Gregorio, participated in the Athens Olympic Games and won the 5th place. In Beijing he achieved the 8th place. Regarding the London Olympic games, the coach consideres "the expectations very good."

You can watch the interviews with Jadel and Antonio Carlos Gomes on this website.
