Between December 5th and 8th, the Rio Maior Multisports hall will host a stage of the European Youth Basketball League, the largest basketball competition in Europe for youth categories.

Last year, over 300 stages were held across Europe, ranging from the U12 to U20 categories, for both boys and girls. In each category, two stages are played followed by a final phase. This event in Rio Maior corresponds to the first phase stage of 2024 for the U17 men's category, with 9 groups. The Rio Maior stage will feature games from Group E, which includes the Rio Maior Basket team.

The organization of this stage is the result of a partnership between Rio Maior Basket, MVP Academy, the Municipality of Rio Maior, and the Rio maior Sports Centre.

This is already the second year that this international sporting event is being held in Rio Maior.
