The Municipality of Rio Maior and the Rio Maior Sports Centre. have renewed their collaboration protocol with the Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN), a partnership established since 2013, aimed at enhancing the development of high-performance swimming in Portugal.
This three-party protocol aims to combine the resources and expertise of each entity to provide young swimmers with potential, identified by the FPN, with an excellent training environment to advance in high-performance sports.
The Rio Maior High Performance Centre (CAR) offers all the necessary conditions for daily training, physical recovery, and specialized technical support for athletes, with the added advantage of integrating academic support to facilitate the balance between sports careers and education, in partnership with the High Performance Support Unit in Schools.
Through this world-class infrastructure, the CAR positions itself as a reference for talent development in swimming, offering continuous support to swimmers on their athletic and academic journeys.
The signing of this protocol took place on November 6, 2024, and was attended by the Mayor of Rio Maior, Filipe Santana Dias, the Chairman of the Rio Maior Sp+orts Centre, Miguel Pacheco, and the President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation, António Silva.
This event reinforces Rio Maior's commitment to supporting national swimming and promoting a structure that drives young Portuguese talents, consolidating the municipality as a key player in high-performance sports in Portugal.
