On Sunday, May 19th, many athletes from Rio
Maior and international athletes that regularly make training camps in our
Sports Complex reached great results in competitions.
The highlights were the triathlete Pâmella
Oliveira, who won a gold medal, and Portugal National Race Walking Women´s
Team, who won a silver medal. In the European Cup Race Walking, held in
Dudince, Slovakia, Ana Cabecinha, Inês
Henriques, Vera Santos and Susana Feitor reached the second position.
In men's competition João Vieira was ranked in
seventh place while is brother Sergio Vieira ended at 29. In junior´s
competiotion Filipa Ferreira Ribeiro and
Mara, with a good final phase, was 15th, while Miguel Carvalho was 11. º in
junior men's 10 km
Also on May 19, but in Huatulco, Mexico, in the World Cup Triathlon, Pâmella Oliveira, from the "Project Rio Maior 2016," won the gold medal with an impressive run. Bruno Matheus was ranked fourth followed by Danilo Pimentel and Fábio Carvalho was seventh. Who won the men´s competition was the Russian Artem Parienko that in 2011 and 2012 made many training camps in Rio Maior. The Portuguese Miguel Arraiolos was 11th, while Felipe Barraza from Chile was 13. º while the Brazilian Paulo Maciel was 23th.
