Between July 31 and August 5 the British Judo national Team made a training camp in Rio Maior. During 6 days, in our Sports Centre the team prepared for the World Championships which will be held in Russia, in August.
With this group was the athlete Gemma Gibbons, who won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The head coach Kate Howey, as an athlete, won two Olympic medals, a silver medal in Sydney 2000 and bronze in Barcelona 1992.
The team was housed at the Sports Centre and made the training sessions in the indoor sports, rooms specially equipped for all combat sports.
The athletes also made physical preparation in the pools, on the athletics track, gym, health club, physiotherapy, criotherapy and sauna.
