On the 24th of September, at the Rio Maior Sports Center, we received a visit from leaders and technicians from the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, who were accompanied by the President of the Paralympic Committee of Portugal, José Manuel Lourenço.
In Rio Maior, the Director of High Performance Sports, Jonas Freire, the Director of the Brazilian Paralympic Training Center, Marcos Garcia and the Supervisor of Missions and Special Projects, Mariana Rangel, who got to know, with special attention, the services and facilities prepared for training camps of adapted sport athletes.
The Brazilian delegation was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Desmor, Miguel Pacheco, who was accompanied by his entire coordination team, who explained in detail all the necessary specifications for a perfect internship for Paralympic athletes.
The Mayor and Vice-President of the Municipality of Rio Maior, Luís Filipe Santana Dias and João Lopes Candoso, also insisted on accompanying part of this visit, also bringing together, with a view to close cooperation, between all entities, in the management of sport internships.
It should be remembered that in recent years the Rio Maior Sports Center has been a true home for the best Brazilian athletes, including those in adapted sports, such as the Paralympic triathletes of the Brazilian Triathlon Confederation. The Rio Maior Sports Center is properly prepared to host training camps for one of the teams that traditionally wins the most medals and podiums in Paralympic games, in which at this time its managers are already planning the training camps for the Paris 24 Games.
The Rio Maior Sports Center is usually the choice of many other teams and athletes, national and international, especially in modalities such as adapted swimming, basketball and handball in a wheelchair and bocce.
