Between the 12th and 23th July the Sweden
National Swimming Team held a training camp in the Rio Maior Sports Centre. The
Swedish team chose Rio Maior to prepare
the European Swimming Championships held in Berlin between the 13th and
24th August 2014.
The team won six medals, including three gold,
two silver and one bronze. The swimmer Sarah Sjöström stood out in the 100
meter freestyle and 50 meters butterfly and won the gold medals. She also
participated in two relay races, where the team of Sweden won a gold and a
silver medal.
During the training camp in Rio Maior the Head
Coach, Ulrika Sandmark, gave us a testimony about our Sports Centre.
“I think it´s very good. We have everything we
need here. We get full support on everything. Good food, good accommodation,
good training, and if we need anything they fix anything for us. It´s good for
professional sports. It´s good for a hard training camp.” told us Ulrika
Sandmark.
