RACE WALKERS FROM RIO MAIOR ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
João Vieira won this week end the atheletics portuguese championships at 10 000 meters race walking.
The race walker from Rio Maior reached a new national record in 39:44.91, a time which is the world's sixth in 2011. Also in men, Pedro Isidro was second.
Female marchers from Rio Maior were also in the podium. Inês Henriques won in 10 000 meters with a time of 43:59.08, and Susana Feitor was second (44:13.33).
The Championships were held at 30 and 31 July ´11 at the University Stadium of Lisbon.
