RIO MAIOR SPORTS CENTRE HOSTS MAJOR INTERNATIONAL WATER POLO EVENT

Between August 18 and 24, the Olympic Pool at the Rio Maior Sports Centre will once again host an international Water Polo tournament — the Men's U18 European Championship Division 1. The event is organized by European Aquatics and the Portuguese Swimming Federation, with the support of the Municipality of Rio Maior, Desmor, and the Santarém District Swimming Association.

A total of 300 people, including teams and organizers, will be welcomed in Rio Maior, generating a significant impact on the local economy, especially on the region's hotel capacity, as participants will be accommodated both at the Sports Centre and in various hotels throughout the municipality.

The competition will feature 13 national teams: Portugal, Slovakia, Israel, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Switzerland, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Ireland, Moldova, Belgium, Austria, and Denmark.

The first match is scheduled for August 18 at 9:00 a.m. between Israel and Belgium, while Portugal's first match is set for August 19 at 7:00 p.m. against Lithuania. From August 21 to 24, match times will be determined based on the results of the group stage.
