SERGIO VIEIRA:

Sergio Vieira is one of the best portuguese race walkers.

He was born in Portimão, but since his childhood lives in Rio Maior.

In 2006, in the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce, won the bronze medal. In 2008 participated in the Olympics Games in Beijing, obtained a 45th place.

In 2009, in the World Championships in Berlin got a 27th place.

In 2010 he was by the first time a 20 km Portugal Championship, followed by a participation in the European Championships in Barcelona, where he earned a 21th place.

The victory of Carlos Lopes in the 1984 Olympics Games marathon was the "click" for his sports career.

In an interview to this website, Sergio Vieira told us about his career and the Rio Maior Sports Complex.

"Rio Maior is the Sports Complex where i prefer to train. I use the track stadium, gymnasium, physiotherapy, massage and sauna. In five minutes we are everywhere. Everything is very close”

The coming months will be very important on his career. Sergio Vieira is working hard to be in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
