The Rio Maior Sports Centre (RMSC) offers excellent conditions for training and for hosting national and international training camps and competitions in Modern Pentathlon.
An Olympic sport of high demand, Modern Pentathlon includes five disciplines — fencing, swimming, running, obstacles, and laser shooting — for which the RMSC provides complete, modern, and properly prepared infrastructures. The proximity between all facilities allows for highly efficient operations, both in training and competition contexts, ensuring an integrated experience for athletes and technical teams.

At the end of 2025, the RMSC strengthened this offering with the construction of the Modern Pentathlon Obstacle Course, located next to the Training Centre, in an indoor venue. Developed according to the sport's international guidelines, the course features a configuration inspired by the "Ninja" concept, consisting of eight technical obstacles — six fixed and two variable — designed to test agility, strength, coordination, and balance. Among the included elements are variable-height steps, jumping wheels, walls with different types of crossing (over, under, and intermediate), rings ("flying hoops"), ladders, and monkey bars, culminating in a final 3.5-meter ramp with a button.
For the fencing discipline, the RMSC has fully equipped sports halls where high-performance training sessions and official competitions regularly take place.
In this way, Rio Maior establishes itself as a reference hub in the development of Modern Pentathlon, consolidating a strategic commitment that actively contributes to the sustained growth of the sport in Portugal and to its projection in the international context.
