The + Sport + Health project has launched another season of activities, continuing its 25-year commitment to promoting physical activity, health and well-being among the population of the municipality of Rio Maior.
Developed by Rio Maior City Council and Desmor, with the support of the Parish Councils, this initiative encourages regular physical exercise through activities tailored to the different age groups and fitness levels of participants, helping to promote more active and healthier lifestyles.
The project currently comprises three programmes, each with specific objectives and target audiences:
+ Senior: Aimed at people aged over 65, this programme promotes active ageing, independence and social interaction through adapted physical activity sessions held twice a week.
+ Active: Designed for adults aged between 18 and 65, it offers fitness sessions twice a week, focusing on improving physical fitness, health and overall well-being.
+ Running: Aimed at participants aged between 18 and 40, this programme introduces participants to road running and trail running, with three weekly sessions led by specialised instructors.
The project also provides the +D+S Office, located at the Rio Maior Swimming Pool Complex, which offers free physical fitness assessments and personalised advice. This service helps participants identify the activities best suited to their needs and personal goals.
In this new season, 12 + Senior centres and 8 + Active centres are operating across the municipality, with sessions led by Desmor's qualified exercise professionals.
Participation in the activities is free of charge, subject to a registration fee of €7.80. Interested participants can register at any time during the sports season.
Registration is available at the administration office of the Rio Maior Swimming Pool Complex and at the Parish Council offices.
